Britta Byström is one of Sweden’s leading composers.
In this, the first portrait disc devoted to her, featuring three major orchestral compositions, we also have the pleasure of presenting one of Sweden’s foremost viola soloists – Ellen Nisbeth, who has already risen to international greatness.
The viola concerto “A Walk After Dark” was premiered at Berwaldhallen, Stockholm, in February 2014, together with the Swedish Radio Symphony Orchestra under the young Swedish conductor Daniel Blendulf, who also conducts the Malmö Symphony Orchestra in the other two orchestral works, “Picnic at Hanging Rock” and “Invisible Cities”.
