The French pianist and composer Charles Valentin Alkan (1813-88) is undoubtedly one of the most enigmatic and original figures in piano literature. A celebrated child prodigy, he soon developed into one of the most prominent piano virtuosos of his time. Stefan Lindgren plays two of Alkan's most prominent works for piano: Sonata op. 33 and Symphony op. 39.
